Camping doesn’t have to mean long car trips in the middle of nowhere. You can camp here in the middle of New York at Collective Governors Island, a luxurious glamping site in the middle of New York Harbor.

They all have cozy bedding, charming furniture, a private bathroom and bath products.
The brand’s signature Summit tents not only offer stylish decor, but they have climate-controlled interiors and en-suite bathrooms with rain showers! The Outlook Shelter is even more aesthetically pleasing: it’s a geometric space with floor-to-ceiling windows, a spa tub, a private terrace, and a king-size bed.
The best part is that those who stay at Collective Retreats have access to 72 acres of parkland, where they can bike, hike and explore the island’s art installations and farm and even choose to hang out at the new QC NY Spa. Whatever you do, you’ll have access to delicious food (especially dinners and brunches) from Executive Chef Ezra Lewis, who combines his Caribbean roots with classic European techniques, and Executive Chef Owen Laufersweiler, who helped launch the starred restaurant Oxalis. The Governors Island Collective’s new wood-fired grill menu, featuring dishes cooked al fresco on an Argentinian barbecue, focuses around the main course, such as shoulder of beef with cognac, cream and green pepper sauce or smoked mushroom Shogun Maitake with a tamari and kumquat glaze. The centerpiece comes with appetizers, sides, and desserts that showcase the farm-fresh flavors of local produce. And starting May 9, its six-course spring tasting menu will feature rotating dishes based on seasonal and local foods and an optional wine pairing.
Drinks are on the Sunset Terrace, the retreat’s outdoor bar, which offers the best city views you can enjoy while sipping laps. classic cocktails, like Governors Boulevardier and Lavender Bees Knees.
