WISCONSIN, (WFRV) – Looking to get out for a few days in Wisconsin? We recommend camping as a way to become one with nature and get away from the city atmosphere.
Below are just a few of the Wisconsin destinations and information is subject to change at any time. It is therefore recommended that you call the location or check their website before any planning is finalized.
#1 – Edge of Lake NeshonocWest Salem
Cycling, fishing, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes and pickleball are just some of the activities you can do here. Add to the mix the availability of potlucks, bingo, children’s activities, and arts and crafts.
The website also states that there is internet and wifi, laundry facilities, pool, hot tub/spa/hot tub, and playground.
“Whether you’re planning a retreat for the whole family, a group of friends, or a getaway for two, there’s no shortage of unique activities to explore at Neshonoc Lakeside Camping Resort,” the campground’s website says.
Prices: For a tent site described as dry camping, two adults can rent it for $54 a night per day with a two-night minimum and $47 a night per week with a seven-night minimum. A fire pit and a picnic table are also available to campers.
#2 – Apostle Islands Area CampgroundBayfield
Full of attractions, you can stop at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Meyers Beach Sea Caves, and/or Chequamegon National Forest before or after checking into this campground.
In total, the website reports that campers can choose from 63 wooded sites with wifi available throughout most of the area. You can even rent a covered wagon with bathroom, heating, air conditioning, fridge and shower.
“Come enjoy Lake Superior’s world-class fishing, sea caves, boating, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking and more,” the site explained.
Prices: The standard rate for a large tent pitch without water or electricity is displayed on the website at $30 per night for two adults.
#3 – Plymouth Rock Camping ResortPlymouth
The 180-acre RV park has sites for RVs, trailers with slides, pop-ups, or tents. You can even rent a cabana if you don’t want to bring your own roof.
It also has a mini-golf course for guests to putt on the course, a swimming pool to cool off in and a boat rental location for a ride.
“Plymouth Rock and the spacious RV complex is conveniently located directly across from the Road America race track, minutes from Lake Elkhart and a short drive from Lake Michigan,” the site reported.
Prices: For a tent site that doesn’t have hookups, it starts at $78 for a daily night and $74 for a weekly night. The website showed that the tent site can accommodate up to six people.
#4 – Tranquil Timbers Camping Resortsturgeon bay
This campground is adjacent to Potawatomi State Park, which the website reported as having hiking and biking trails and a boat launch.
Campers can enjoy jam sessions, mini-golf, live entertainment, sand badminton, and arts and crafts.
“We’re located on a 75-mile-long peninsula known as one of the nation’s premier vacation destinations with 5 state parks and 10 lighthouses,” the site pointed out.
Prices: The website shows a dry tent site, however, it does not appear to be available online.
#5 – Wagon Trail CampgroundElisson Bay
The 2022 season ends Oct. 17, the campground’s website reports. Some of the amenities guests can enjoy include free wifi and showers, bait/fishing rod rentals, and dump/recycling sites.
For people with pets, the location is pet friendly with a $5 pet fee. There is also a game room, hiking trails and a camping store.
“Amenities include shampoo in each shower (herbal shower gel that transforms into a luxurious body wash, hand soap, and shampoo), removable shower heads, and plenty of hooks for towels, clothes, and more items,” the site said.
Prices: For a tent site without electricity or water connection, the rate per night is $40 for two people. There should be a picnic table and fire pit at each site for campers.
#6 – Delta Lodgeriver of iron
If you are looking to pitch a tent at this lodge, there will be no room for you. Delta Lodge only rents cabins during its four main seasons – Quiet Season, Early Summer, Summer, and Fall/Spring.
There are thirteen pet-friendly cabins, with kitchens, screened porches, and outdoor barbecue grills. The website showed there were four two-bedroom cabins, four three-bedroom cabins, three three-bedroom cabins with lofts, a large old cabin which staff dubbed “Animal House” in honor of John Belushi and a one-bedroom cabin.
“Our dog-friendly cabins and family resort provide quick and easy access to all four seasons of Northern Wisconsin outdoor recreation including canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, swimming, boating, golfing, hiking, hunting, mountain biking, cable, Wisconsin cross-country racing, and world-class fishing,” the site said.
Prices: From Aug. 22-28, he listed a one-bedroom cabin that sleeps two for $780 on the website.
#seven – Yukon Trails RV & Camping ResortLyndon Railway Station
This place offers hot weekend breakfasts and a free movie theater. The website showed that there was also a swimming pool and sports courts.
There are also several activities, like Friday Night Fish/Shrimp Fry, train rides, mini-golf, cornhole, and horseshoes.
“Enjoy rustic, Wisconsin-style family camping combined with our modern facilities and amenities,” the site said.
Prices: According to the website, the campground will close on October 18. It says the rental price for a two-person “rustic tent” site is $66 a night for a day and $58 a night for a minimum of a week.
#8 – Edge-O-Dells ResortDell of Wisconsin
From April to October, this campsite is for anyone aged 21 and over. Some of the activities include live rock bands late at night, pool parties with volleyball and basketball, DJs, outdoor volleyball courts, and horseshoes.
The website showed there was also a tiki bar and hot tub for campers to relax and unwind.
“We wanted to provide a campground near Wisconsin Dells where groups of adults could gather and enjoy each other’s company without the kids!”
Prices: For a campsite with a deluxe tent and water/electricity for one night, the price on the website said it was $38 for the average rate per night for two people.
#9 – Bonanza Camping ResortDell of Wisconsin
This place is kid friendly with a gaga pit, jumping pillow, multiple playgrounds and mini golf. On the website it is stated that the campground has been in operation since the mid 1900’s.
Some of the amenities include a heated pool, free Wi-Fi, playground, showers, and laundry facilities.
“The owners and management take great pride in providing our guests with a fun, quality vacation experience that will keep families coming back year after year to enjoy all that Bonanza and the Wisconsin Dells have to offer,” said the website.
Prices: For a stay in a rustic tent with two adults, the price starts at $25 for one night. The lot includes a picnic table and a fire pit, but does not include water or electricity.
#ten – Egg Harbor Campgroundegg port
Here, you can explore Door County and choose from 160 campsites, log cabins, and shelters at this campground. The website showed that pets are allowed in shelters but not in cabins.
Enjoy the heated pool, horseshoes, volleyball, video game room, TV/reading room, laundry room and play areas.
“Nearby beaches, several nearby golf courses, wine tours, art galleries, lighthouses, shopping, boiling fish, too many restaurants to list,” the site says.
Prices: Rustic tent sites are $37 a night for two people with a two-night minimum required for a reservation.
