Rivian continues to update the pair of R1 electric vehicles; the last feature is Camp mode. The company describes the new update in a blog post, including the ability to balance the car when parked on rough terrain.

Rivian opened its first service center in Canada in July.

If you like the outdoors and electric vehicles, Rivian is trying to sell you an electric pickup (R1T) and an SUV (R1S). To enhance your camping experience, the automaker has launched a new Camp mode. You can access it by clicking on the “More” icon, followed by the tent icon.

One of the main features is to level the vehicle even when the surface is not flat. The EV uses “air suspension, our own special algorithms, and multiple sensors embedded around the vehicle to precisely determine the degree of adjustment needed at each corner of the truck or SUV to create a flat surface.” It affects things like sleeping and cooking.

Current R1T and R1S owners will get Camp Mode via an update. The update lets you “optimize vehicles’ power consumption when parked, set timers for ports and charging sockets, turn off interior displays, activate a special mode of Camp courtesy and illuminate your campsite with spotlights in the side mirrors.

With Rivian starting to fill pre-orders for the R1S, the new feature will hit more riders.
