Ras Al Khaimah is the place to be this New Year’s Eve as the emirate prepares to welcome visitors from the United Arab Emirates and around the world for its spellbinding fireworks display that will usher in 2022 alongside a wide range of family activities before the pyrotechnic show.
The organizing committee of the Ras Al Khaimah New Year celebration (#RAKNYE2022), in collaboration with the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management and the Ministry of Health and Prevention, deploys a range of activities suitable for the whole family – everything must be organized according to safety protocols.
This year, visitors will not only have the chance to watch the spectacular 12-minute fireworks display featuring pyro-drones in a myriad of colors and shapes to welcome the New Year, but will also be able to set up tents in a dedicated camping area.
Overnight camping
Campers are welcomed from Thursday December 30, 2021 at 12 p.m. until the end of the festivities on Saturday January 1, 2022. On stage, entertainment, food trucks, children’s areas, market area and DJs will be divided between the island of Al Marjan and Al Zone of Hamra village. The price of camping starts from AED 100. There will be two viewing areas between Al Marjan Island and Al Hamra Village which will accommodate spectators observing all safety precautions and social distancing. One of these observation areas will be chargeable.
Parking and access
To add to visitor convenience, there will be 15,000 parking spaces near the viewing/event areas. Access to the viewing areas will be easy via Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road (E 311) and Emirates Road (E611) for those arriving from Dubai and via Sheikh Mohamed Bin Salem Road (E11) for visitors to Ras Al Khaimah and the other Emirates. All hotels in Al Hamra Village and Al Marjan Island will also have dedicated viewing areas to celebrate the New Year in style.
The firework
The grand fireworks display, one of the biggest and longest in the United Arab Emirates, will last 12 minutes and is expected to break two Guinness World Records. The exhibition will be accompanied by a crescendo of modern and dynamic music to reflect the new spirit of optimism in the world.
A spokesperson for the organizing committee said: “#RAKNYE2022 will be another feather in Ras Al Khaimah’s hat as we focus on putting together a unique showcase of events that will delight families. Based on visitor feedback, we are also offering additional activities for this New Year, including the ability to set up tents and enjoy the festivities longer in a festive and safe environment. Ras Al Khaimah had welcomed 2021 with a dazzling 10-minute fireworks display that underscored the UAE’s message of hope, peace and achievement. Ras Al Khaimah also made history with the 2020 New Year’s Eve Gala, which won GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles for the “Most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Simultaneous Fireworks Launching” and the “longest fireworks cascade”. The emirate has secured two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for ‘Longest Fireworks String’ and ‘Longest Straight Line of Fireworks with New Year’s Eve 2019 Fireworks’.
