Montclair Boy Scout Troop 12 recognized Harry “Skip” Bartlett, owner of Bartlett’s Greenhouses and Florist, 814 Grove St., Clifton, for the many years of support he has given to Scouting and the greater Montclair community.

The Boy Scouts and Scoutmasters in the photo presented him with a plaque that read, “To Harry ‘Skip’ Bartlett and Bartlett’s Greenhouses and Florist, of Troop 12 Montclair.” Thank you for being a friend of the troupe!

According to a Boy Scout statement, Bartlett and his team have provided Troop 12 with plants and supplies that enable the plant sales that Troop 12 holds each fall, winter and spring. In addition to teaching Scouts valuable sales skills, these events are responsible for the majority of Troop 12’s operating budget.

Proceeds are used to fund scholarships, uniforms, supplies and a summer camp for Scouts in financial need. Troop 12’s plant sales have also supported the local community, as the troop and its customers donate plants to local retirement homes, especially during the holidays.

At the height of the pandemic, Troop 12 donated proceeds from these fundraisers to the Human Needs Food Pantry.

Troop 12 thanked Bartlett for his generosity, guidance and expertise. Fundraiser organizer and assistant scout leader Stefan Kwiatkowski called it “an invaluable part of the success of Troop 12 Montclair.”
