MOCKSVILLE, NC – Carolina Bible Camp’s Bluegrass Festival is the place for kids and the young at heart.

Always admitted free with a paying adult, kids 12 and under will enjoy special activities planned just for them, including an outdoor easel to paint, old-fashioned sidewalk games and free crafts. (Kids 12 and up will also enjoy them.)

The non-profit pregnancy and adoption crisis organization, AGAPE of North Carolina, sponsors the Children’s Activities Tent which offers a long list of special events.

CARLEY AND THE KIDS!

At 1:45 p.m., bluegrass artist Carley Arrowood will be on hand to meet and greet the kids and talk about growing up to be a professional musician.

Carley Arrowood was only 10 years old when she heard a 4-H friend play the bluegrass fiddle. This inspired Carley to start studying the violin using the Suzuki method. She then joined the Hendersonville Youth Orchestra and auditioned for bluegrass duo Darin and Brooke Aldridge while still in high school. After graduating, she immediately started touring with them, and now, having won many awards, she is on her own.

Also on hand to talk about their professions, NC State Highway Patrol Trp. BK White; Keysha Kendrick, cardiology critical care nurse; teacher Sherie Conner and preacher Gustavo Prato. Parents are encouraged to bring cell phones to this photoshoot to take special photos of their children with these uniformed professionals.

AND MORE ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS

Charity Watkins, a middle school teacher, will lead the children on a nature walk from 2:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., including a Bible lesson. At 3:00 p.m., Andy King invites children to join him at the Ga-Ga Ball Pit near the Kids’ Tent to learn how to play the fun and fast-paced game of Ga-Ga Ball.

Fancy a parade? Children are invited to meet at the children’s tent at 4:00 p.m. and prepare to present the programming for the 2023 festival.

The Swicegood Group Picker’s Place is the place to be if you like to participate in your picking. All ages are invited all day. A special segment for children, Music with Miss Laura, will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult, please.) Some percussion instruments will be provided but bring your own string instruments.

SOMEBODY SAID CAKE?

Master Baker Bonnie Watkins has created a special treat to celebrate the 10e Annual festival. The large three-layer sheet cake will include two layers of chocolate cake, one layer of red velvet, and lots of creamy, melt-in-your-mouth frosting. How big will it be to feed this crowd of festival-goers? Ms Watkins says there will be 10 pounds of butter, 54 eggs, 20 pounds of powdered sugar and a whole cup of vanilla extract. A brief but special cake-cutting ceremony will take place at noon in the dining room.
