ST. CLOUD (WJON News) – A gubernatorial candidate made a brief stopover in central Minnesota this weekend.
Republican Scott Jensen and his running mate Matt Birk campaigned at Saint-Cloud regional airport on Saturday afternoon. The day-long “Fly-Around” tour followed Friday’s final debate between Jensen and Democratic incumbent Tim Walz.
Jensen and Birk were joined at the rally by other Republican candidates vying in the area, including Tama Theis, Aaron Henningand Bernie Perryman.
Birk and Jensen took to the mic to bring the crowd of a few hundred up, discussing their positions on issues such as inflation, crime and education, while avoiding other hot topics such as the abortion, immigration, voting and LGBT rights. The stoppage was one of six for the candidates.
After leaving St. Cloud, Jensen and Birk headed south to Mankato and then Rochester.
