The All Progressive Congress (APC) and the camp of Biodun Oyebanji, the winner of the Ekiti gubernatorial election, dared former governor Segun Oni, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and vice-champion , contesting the outcome of the just-concluded gubernatorial election in the state.

The chief executive of the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) campaign organisation, Cyril Fasuyi, said during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics show on Sunday night.

Fasuyi said it is usual for engineer Segun Oni and his team to always reject election results, thinking that if it’s not him, then it’s nobody.

What the BAO campaign organization says

“It’s usual for engineer Segun Oni and his team,” he said about the reaction of Oni who was the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the elections.

“When you see a man who has a habitual way of thinking that if it’s not him, then it’s nobody; then you won’t be shocked that a party that was defeated with more than 100,000 votes… come and say they reject the result, it’s unbelievable.

“There is nothing wrong, he is free to go anywhere. In court, there is this usual language that the allegation must prove; so we wait for them to bring out all the evidence they have against us.

While reacting to allegations that the APC hired thugs to buy votes and steal ballot boxes, Fasuyi said: “I was the managing director of the BAO campaign organization; I am aware of everything that was done and there was nothing (to suggest vote buying) in the entire budget of the BAO campaign organization.

“There was only one budget I was on and there was no line called vote buying. I was a lead actor from start to finish.

PDP candidate accepts results, congratulates Oyebanji

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ekiti gubernatorial election, Bisi Kolawole, accepted the election result and congratulated APC candidate, Oyebanji, on his victory at the polls

Kolawole, in a letter to the governor-elect, titled “Congratulations on your victory,” said: “I am writing to congratulate you. I believe that power belongs to God and that he gives it to whomever he wills. I also believe in popular choice, that is, the unfettered expression of the mandate of the people, as one of the essential characteristics of democratic principle and practice.
